Dr. Yulia Koba, PsyD
Clinical Psychologist in Hermosa Beach

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist providing in-person therapy in Hermosa Beach for women navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and identity shifts during major life transitions. I also offer telehealth therapy throughout California.

Many of the women I work with are capable, high-functioning, and outwardly “holding it together,” yet internally feel anxious, depleted, or unlike themselves. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and feel steadier again.

I strongly believe that every person deserves the support and compassionate care during life changing events such as going through fertility treatments, pregnancy, perinatal loss, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause - all seasons in women’s life. Seeking help can be stressful and challenging, and I am committed to making you feel safe and supported through the entire process.

Your emotional experience is completely unique to you, only you know the depth of despair and the extend of pain your experience. I believe my extensive clinical experience, in-depth specialized training, and personal experience as a mother will allow me to “hold” your pain and guide our treatment process.

My Clinical Focus

You will receive a compassionate care and extensive expertise.

About_Approach_0.jpg

My work centers on women’s mental health during hormonal and life transitions, including:

  • Pregnancy and perinatal anxiety

  • Postpartum emotional overwhelm and intrusive thoughts

  • Infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, and IVF-related stress

  • Perimenopause and menopause-related anxiety and mood changes

  • Trauma activation during medical or reproductive experiences

These transitions can place significant strain on the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy helps women understand why symptoms are happening now and how to restore emotional balance.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and nervous-system focused. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I consider the broader context — including hormonal changes, attachment patterns, life stressors, and past experiences.

Therapy is collaborative and thoughtful. We work at a pace that feels safe, grounded, and respectful of what you’re carrying. Many clients describe therapy as a place where they finally feel understood rather than analyzed.

Training & Professional Background

I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and have advanced training in trauma-informed treatment, perinatal mental health, and women’s psychological health across the lifespan. My clinical work integrates years of experience supporting women through reproductive, relational, and midlife transitions.

In addition to therapy, I conduct psychological evaluations for third-party reproduction, working collaboratively with fertility clinics, agencies, and reproductive professionals throughout California.

When Therapy May Be Helpful

ou don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many women reach out when:

  • Anxiety or mood changes feel unfamiliar or unmanageable

  • Emotional symptoms emerge during pregnancy, postpartum, or midlife

  • Past trauma feels closer to the surface

  • Relationships feel strained or disconnected

  • You feel internally overwhelmed despite functioning well externally

Therapy offers clarity, stabilization, and support during periods of change.

In-Person Therapy in Hermosa Beach

I offer in-person therapy sessions in Hermosa Beach, serving women from Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and the surrounding South Bay area. My office provides a calm, private setting for women seeking face-to-face support during times of transition.

For those outside the South Bay or who prefer remote care, secure telehealth sessions are available throughout California

Next Steps

If you’re considering therapy and want to understand what support might be most helpful, I offer a 60-minute Transition Mental Health Consultation. This consultation provides space to explore your concerns, clarify goals, and discuss next steps.
